Rakhi Sawant garlands Elesh in swayamvar finale

Mumbai: In days of yore, Swayamvar ceremony culminated in the bride marrying the groom of her choice. But Rakhis’s swayamvar show built up the suspense to greater level and the pendulum of decision was dangling between marriage and engagement. Finally, she chose Elesh.

Quite strategically, Rakhi referred to the swayamvar as an 'engagement', and deferred the marriage to a later date.

30-year-old controversy queen of Bollywood Rakhi Sawant had whittled a field of 16 contestants down to three. Most fans of the show were convinced that Rakhi would choose Canadian businessman Elesh Parujanwala, 30-year-old Rakhi's suitor. He finally won Rakhi's hand pipping Manas Katyal, a 22-year-old event manager from Delhi and Chittiz Jain, the businessman from Delhi.

Romance was high in the air as Rakhi and Parujanwala said 'I Love You' to each other while exchanging rings and vows during the glittering ceremony attended by the boy's family members, besides noted choreographer Saroj Khan and celebrities from the TV world.

Giving reasons why she selected Parujanwala, Rakhi said "He is honest."

They contenders had written poetry, serenaded her with songs, arm wrestled and even walked on burning coals to show their love for her in the month long courting.

“I’m not getting married, now,” she had revealed to a news daily, adding, “I’m selecting someone from the show to be my life partner. It’s more of an engagement.”

One source said Rakhi was contractually obligated to get married in the show’s finale. However, reports in recent days had emerged suggesting that a way out had been formulated for Rakhi, with the man she selects given the option of choosing to marry her or walking away with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Now it remains to be seen if Elesh and Rakhi would solemnize their decision as well!
